June, 2019: A growing number of women engaged in the tunnelling industry was celebrated at the RETC 2019 conference event held in Chicago with the first meeting of Women in Tunneling as an officially sponsored interest group of the UCA of SME and with women owned businesses highlighted in the exhibition hall. Also highlighted is the UCA of SME Underground Careers initiative to attract new recruits to the industry. The next international tunnelling conference in the USA will be the TBM DiGs event in November 2019 followed by the Cutting Edge conference, which will incorporate also the ITA Awards conference day and Awards presentation gala dinner.
