Messe München News Release

India is the only national market in Asia experiencing growth in construction machinery sales. Furthermore, this is forecast to continue for the coming years, which is good news for bauma CONEXPO India, to be held from December 12 to 15, 2016 at the HUDA show ground, in Gurgaon/Delhi.

The growth in the Indian market is due to infrastructure development with the Indian Government and international development banks making substantial allocation of funds for new roads, railway and energy projects. German foreign trade and inward investment agency, GTAI (German Trade and Invest) has observed the country, with its billion strong population, as it dismantles barriers to infrastructure projects, which lends further impetus to civil engineering development.

Considering all aspects of the market, Off Highway Research, the British market research company, has also made a favourable forecast for growth in India during the next five years. It expects the current 2016 sales of 55,000 construction machines to climb steadily to more than 71,000 units by 2020. Top sellers, expecting to have a combined market share of more than 90% by 2020, are backhoe loaders, crawler excavators, mobile cranes, mobile compressors, compactors and wheel loaders.

The positive trend in civil construction is reflected in the list of companies that have registered early for the exhibition, including ACE, Astec, Bauer, BKT, Herrenknecht, Kobelco, Solimec, Wacker Neuson, Volvo and Wirtgen. They are joined by Caterpillar, JCB, Potain, Putzmeister, TIL and XCMG. Prominent first time exhibitors include Comacchio, Kubota and L&T, and Komatsu.
