One of the many advantages of cast-in tunnel segment gaskets is that they can be produced ahead to meet the specific requirements of each project and minimize installation time. Israel based ES Rubber has developed bespoke cast-in gaskets for a number of tunneling projects worldwide, and is currently supplying gaskets to projects in India, Israel and Peru.
For the Mumbai Metro Line 3 in India for contractors Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited ES Rubber is supplying TunnelFlex 33M coex sealing gaskets, made with a coextruded EPDM rubber profile combined with an embedded hydrophilic rubber material that absorbs water and expands to seal the tunnel.
In Israel, TunnelFlex 33C anchored gaskets are being used for the Tel Aviv Metro Eastern and Western lines. The advantages of the anchored profile are that it does not require adhesives, offers better fixation against side impact during handling, eliminates concrete groove repair work and provides perfect mechanical toothing between gasket and concrete for sliding sides of key stones.
In Arequipa, Peru, TunnelFlex 26 sealing gaskets with soft gasket corners hardened by injection-molding from ES Rubber are being supplied for the 16km-long Majes Siguas water tunnel.
