Organised transit for cables 01 Nov 2018

Beele News Release

To enable orderly and controlled transit of large numbers of cables, Dutch sealant manufacturer Beele has produced a fire resistant, gas and water-tight sealing system without compressive forces to fill multi-cable transits in underground infrastructure. The new Controfil system also allows new cables to be added if necessary as the transit frames link together.

Initially developed for use with trains, the Controfil system is maintenance and service-friendly and can be used for cable transits in walls, floors, bulkheads and decks. It is comprised of a combination of transit blocks and multi-transit sleeves, filler sleeves and filler blocks, finished with a sealant layer of 15mm or 20mm on both sides.

In contrast to existing block systems, the Controfil system blocks are only intended as transit modules and not as sealing blocks that require compression. The frames are manufactured from HR plastic and can be fitted in concrete, and as the system has no metal components, no corrosion can occur in the sealing system.

The transits were tested according to EN 1366-3:2009 standards during a four-hour fire test in a 100mm-thick wall and achieved a fire rating of EI60/E240. They are also seawater, UV, ozone and weather-resistant, and as high-tech silicone compounds are used as base for the blocks and sleeves the system offers exceptional durability.
