Online lecture series offers training for all Jan 2021

ITA-CET News Release

A monthly series of online lectures aimed at keeping those in the field abreast of new ideas and technologies and providing online training accessible to all, is being introduced by ITA-CET, the Committee on Education and Training of the ITA International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association. Organised jointly with the ITACET Foundation, the lectures will bring together top professionals from the ITA Working Groups and Committees as well as industry representatives and project owners to speak on a wide range of topics and areas of professional engagement and career development. Each lecture will be about an hour long starting at 1pm CET and will include a dedicated time for discussion and questions.

Held every 2nd Tuesday of the month, the first session will be on Tuesday 9 February at 1pm CET on the topic From rock mechanics to drill+blast. It will comprise three presentations. Professor Robert Galler will speak of the optimised advances in drill+blast technology; Eric Lüpfert of Sandvik will present case studies on intelligent underground rock excavation and Mark Ganster of Austin Europe will explain how smooth and accurate advance of headings will be achieved with new blasting techniques.

Future lectures on Tuesday 9 March and Tuesday 13 April will be devoted to Construction contracts and Health and safety respectively.

Registration for each session is required via a registration portal on the ITACET Foundation website. The first three sessions are free with a nominal fee thereafter.
