The second half of 2018 and into early 2019 will be a busy time for manufacturers and buyers in the international construction industry with the major InnoTrans and bauma series of international construction equipment trade fairs and their associated conferences to be staged in Germany, India and China.
InnoTrans, staged every two years in Berlin, Germany, is the world’s leading trade fair for rail transport technology presented in five segments: Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Rail Vehicle Interiors and Tunnel Construction. For the 2018 twelfth staging of the event, from 18 - 21 September, about 224 exhibitors will exhibit for the first time and add to the 2,955 exhibitors from 60 countries that presented global rail industry innovations to 137,391 trade visitors from 119 countries at the 2016 event.
Among the innovations to be displayed for visitors for underground rail and metro systems will be tunnel cleaning vehicles, rescue vehicles for long rail tunnels, and rail-mounted concrete factories from French company Ateliers d'Occitanie used for concreting works in tunnel construction. Tunnel industry manufacturers and suppliers and underground rail project owners and consultant exhibiting at the show will include Herrenknecht, Seoul Metro, Geodta Italy, Zitron, CFT, TIBOS – Tunnel inspection Robot System by SangSangDom of South Korea.
Topics for discussion at the International Tunnel Forum event, organized by the STUVA, the German Research Association for Tunnels and Transportation Facilities, will center on long-term targets in tunnelling and investment strategies for construction and refurbishment and current challenges in tunnelling and tunnel operation.
At the Speakers’ Corner, a programme of presentations will include: modern rail in a changing world – putting passengers at the heart of transport integration by SNC-Lavalin Atkins; changing times for the rail passenger experience in the digital age by Mott MacDonald; and new freight train features in EU and on the ‘silk road’ land bridge by Ferrmed.
The coming bauma series of construction equipment trade fairs includes bauma China in Shanghai in November, bauma CONEXPO in Delhi in December and culminates at the bauma Munich event in Germany in April next year.
Each event presents a barometer on the health of the construction markets across the world and in each sector of public infrastructure construction. Each event will build on the success of their previous stagings and add to the successful staging of bauma events earlier this year in Russia and South Africa.
bauma China is the gateway for international enterprises to the Chinese market and for Chinese enterprises to global markets. Launched in Shanghai in 2002, the show has adapted its exhibition categories to suit the local market and strengthened its cooperation with worldwide associations. At the 2016 event more than 170,000 visitors from 149 countries visited 2,958 exhibitors from 41 countries hosted across 300,000m² of exhibition space. Where for the earlier shows, the majority of exhibitors were from abroad, today it is Chinese manufacturers and suppliers in the majority, confirming China not only as a huge market for construction equipment and supplies but also a burgeoning exporter of Chinese equipment brands and supplies. Bauma China is held at the at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) show grounds and from 27-30 November 2018.
The construction machinery market in India is booming, with infrastructure and construction projects benefiting from long-term support thanks to reforms passed by the Indian government. These are positive signs that are also reflected in the number of companies signing up for the next bauma CONEXPO India event at the HUDA Ground in Gurgaon/Delhi from 11-14 December, 2018. iCEMA, the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association, predicts a 10% growth rate for India’s gross domestic product by 2024, which supports predictions for a successful event with increased numbers of exhibitors and visitors for the coming event.
All branches of industry, all leading manufacturers, all important innovations are represented at the bauma Munich event every three years in Germany. The 32nd edition of the show will take place in Munich from 8 to 14 April, 2019 and again organisers are anticipating greater numbers than those recorded three years ago when 583,736 visitors from 219 countries, visited 3,425 exhibitors from 58 countries across an exhibition space of 605,000m².
Details of the events, the venues, the programmes, the exhibitors and the attractions for visitors can be found on the TunnelTalk Diary Dates page. TunnelTalk will again be at the four events – InnoTrans, bauma China, bauma CONEXPO India, and bauma Munich – and will report on the highlights of the events as we did for the 2016 events, reports that can found in the TunnelTalk Archive and in the Reference link below.
TunnelTalk looks forward to meeting friends and colleagues and to making new contacts and connections at each of the events.
