Normet news release
- A €5 million (US$7.13 million) equipment order from Hong Kong in addition to expansion of its production centre in Finland and the opening of a global spare parts distribution centre in The Netherlands are events that have launched the new year with promise for Normet.

Normet headquarters,
in Finland - A €1 million investment in a new technology centre at its Iisalmi premises in Finland will increase the company's assembly capacity at the plant by 25% and expand significantly the company's product development activities. Renovation and modification of the extra capacity, announced a year ago, after a cooperation partner vacated the area, is now being realised and the hiring of dozens of new employees will gear up operations during the first half of the year.
- To accompany the developments, an order for 20 different machines and cassettes for sprayed concrete and material delivery is confirmed for the major harbour area sewerage project in Hong Kong known as HATS. Two major drill+blast tunnelling contracts for a total 23.6km of new deep level sewerage infrastructure were signed by the Hong Kong Drainage Services Department in August last year (2009).
- "Considering the market conditions, 2009 was a good year for Normet," said CEO Jari Osmala. "Expectations for this year are also positive. The global tunnelling market is growing and investments in capital equipment in the mining market are picking up due to the increase in the price of raw material."

Normet's global reach
- To support sales of its equipment worldwide, the new global spare parts distribution centre to be opened in Holland will improve Normet's customer service by improving connections and bringing spare part services closer to the customers. An external service provider will operate the centre and operations will be up to full speed by September.
- "Normet has internationalised quickly," explained COO Tom Melbye, "and centralising the spare parts operations continues the trend. Finland is quite far from the main flow of global logistics and we want to offer our customers a high standard of spare parts services. This new location saves hours, if not days, in the delivery times of spare parts."
- With more than 90% of its production exported to international end users, Normet's international distribution network includes 23 locations in 16 countries. The newest of these is Normet Canada Ltd in Sudbury, Ontario. Normet employs about 450 professionals at present and the group recorded a turnover of €107 million in 2008.
