Normet and TAM form global partnershipApr 2010
Normet Group has bought a 40% shareholding in TAM International and will partner with the rapidly expanding construction chemicals manufacturer to sell construction chemicals as an extension of its range of concrete spraying equipment.
"This is a logical step for Normet in its expansion from equipment manufacturer to process solutions provider", says Aaro Cantell, Chairman of Normet Group.
Normet will represent TAM products in areas where TAM is not yet active and, in return, TAM will act as agent and distributor of Normet equipment and services in the UK, Hong Kong, Taiwan and ASEAN.
"We have had great results with TAM from our recent co-operation in Hong Kong and Taiwan and this partnership will strengthen Normet's position in underground construction and mining," said Tom Melbye, COO Normet Group and Managing Director of Normet International Ltd.
TAM International is owned by Norman Hay plc in partnership with Martin Robbins, CEO of TAM International and was founded in 1982 and has more than 70 employees worldwide. The company produces a range of specialist chemicals and systems for waterproofing, leak sealing, repair and protection for the civil construction, underground construction and the general building industry.
Victor Bellanti, CEO of Norman Hay plc commented: "This is a strategic alliance which will considerably strengthen both companies. The partnership will bring together the consumable construction chemicals of TAM with the international manufacture and distribution of Normet's application hardware. Both companies share a common global marketplace in construction solutions for waterproofing, injection and repair of structures together in the civil engineering, tunneling and mining industries."
TAM has manufacturing and sales operations in Australia, the UK and Taiwan as well as sales and marketing operations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Europe and the Middle East. Turnover in 2009 was approximately €9 million.
Normet has developed, manufactured and marketed equipment and vehicles for mining and underground construction for more than 40 years. Together with hardware sales, the company provides a comprehensive range of Life Time Care services including maintenance, service programs, spare parts and training for their equipment and associated processes. Normet's head office is in Iisalmi, Finland, and manufacturing is located both in Iisalmi and Santiago de Chile. Sales, marketing and product offering developments are headed by Normet International Ltd in Switzerland. Normet employs more than 450 business professionals in 23 locations worldwide. Turnover in 2009 totaled in excess of €90 million.
