The newly created Bekaert Maccaferri sales and distribution joint venture has held its first team gathering in the historical city of Ghent to introduce the new international team to each other and present the strategy and procedures for the new integrated underground construction solutions business.
During the three-day team building meeting, from 27 to 30 October, the vision and the way of working at Bekaert Maccaferri Underground Solutions was introduced via a series of presentations and workshops. Benoit de Rivaz, Global Business Development Manager, said: “Most importantly, this meeting provided an opportunity for the team to get to know each other, to share experiences and to learn from each other.”
In a partnership that was announced as an intention in June 2014 and confirmed with launch of the new legal entity on 1 October, Bekaert Maccaferri Underground Solutions is a global sales and distribution company established to offer smart reinforcement solutions for underground construction works. Its strategic advantage lies in a global team with a strong local presence, and in a core of technical experts that is fully dedicated to underground markets.
Peter Remory, General Manager stated: “We understand tunneling and speak the customer’s language, and we now have the product range to offer a broad portfolio of innovative, smart, high quality solutions.”
The product range targets all underground construction works for civil tunnelling and mining and includes products for the civil tunnelling and mining industries and for sprayed concrete applications and segmental lining systems. Key products in the Underground Solutions portfolio include the Bekaert Dramix® steel fibre range (3D, 4D, 5D); synthetic fibers; a selection of chemicals; steel arches as a first line of reinforcement; and glass fiber reinforced spiles and anchors.
