Concrete repair mortar to manufacture in UK 31 Aug 2017

Concrete linings often need repair and smoothing during tunnel construction and Mapei has produced a rapid-setting, thixotropic and fibre-reinforced cementitious mortar that can be applied by trowel in a single layer from 3mm to 40mm thickness for non-structural repairs on internal and external, horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces. It can be used on surfaces exposed to air and in permanent contact with water.

Mapei Planitop Smooth & Repair

Known as Planitop Smooth & Repair it has been successful in Europe for years and can be used for quick repairs to deteriorated parts in concrete such as corners of beams, and smoothing defects in cast concrete, such as honeycombs, spacer holes and construction joints.

Due to its recent success in the UK tunneling industry and in a bid to find a quicker route to the market, Mapei is starting production of the product in its West Midlands manufacturing centre in the UK.

“Planitop is an all-encompassing repair and smoothing mortar. The success of the product in the UK has enabled Mapei UK Ltd to produce it at our Halesowen production facilities,” said Paul Russell, Concrete Product Manager at Mapei.
