Technical and engineering consultant Jacobs is to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) and integrated project management services to construction chemicals giant BASF.
Under the terms of a three-year contract, Jacobs will provide technical and engineering services in support of BASF projects around the world, while based at the company’s facility in Antwerp, Belgium.
The Antwerp site is the chemical giant’s second largest integrated (Verbund) chemicals site in the world, comprising more than 50 installations spread across an area of 6km2.
Selection of USA-headquartered Jacobs follows a rigorous process during which the American company was able to demonstrate extensive project execution capabilities in India, Southeast Asia, North America and Europe.
Jacobs’ international experience in these markets is expected to prove beneficial to BASF as it opens opportunities for further growth and expansion.
Making the announcement, Jacobs President, Petroleum and Chemicals, Gary Mandel, said, “Our relationship with BASF spans many years, and we are delighted to further strengthen our relationship across the globe. This selection represents a strong endorsement of our international reach and EPCM capabilities, and we look forward to working alongside BASF to support its continued growth and success.”
