Swedish manufacturer of demolition robots, Brokk, has confirmed its largest order in the company’s 40 year history. A total of 60 Brokk robots with multiple tools and attachments in its security and rescue business area will be delivered to a customer in Asia.
Brokk robots are popular in underground construction industries but are also useful in post-disaster recovery situations such as following natural disasters, severe accidents, terrorist attacks, and similar.
Machines are equipped with technology for both short and long-distance remote control, which keeps the operator at a safe distance from high-risk application areas. After a disaster event it is difficult to predict exactly what challenges are to be faced and the ability of Brokk machines to switch between, and use a wide variety of tools is valued.
The single robot is capable of lifting, demolishing, cutting and digging its way through difficult conditions and terrain.
“Following the initial rescue work after a disaster there comes the challenge to get the infrastructure back up and working again,” said Martin Krupicka, CEO of Brokk. “This clean-up and rehabilitation work can go on for an extended period of time and our robots have the capacity and flexibility to be used in both phases.”
This order is the result of several years of work and the deliveries are scheduled for later in 2019.
