Forming a fibre partnership

Steel fibre suppliers Bekaert and Maccaferri have announced plans to establish a 50/50 sales and distribution joint venture for underground construction reinforcement solutions.
The joint venture is intended to promote on a global basis the use of advanced reinforcement solutions for underground construction projects. It will combine the sales and distribution of Bekaert's Dramix® steel fibres for the reinforcement of concrete in underground construction projects, such as shotcrete and precast applications, with Maccaferri's complementary underground solutions, such as steel arches, concrete chemicals and glass fibre soil consolidation elements. The joint venture will be serving underground construction markets on a worldwide basis, except in mainland China and Hong Kong, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay, where Bekaert and Maccaferri will continue to operate independently.
The establishment of the joint venture is subject to customary closing conditions. Specifics of how the association is to work in detail are yet to be announced.
