ITA invites nominations for 2017 Awards 16 Mar 2017

The third edition of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Awards welcomes new applications.

Following two successful editions and presentation of trophies to the winners in Switzerland in 2015 and Singapore in 2016, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association is preparing to present awards for the third edition of the ITA Tunnelling Awardsin November this year during the AFTES conference in Paris.

Profiling particularly outstanding achievements of underground infrastructure across the world through these awards, ITA intends to identify and support a wide and diverse range of tunnelling projects, from large-scale and large-budget infrastructures to more discrete but revolutionary technical innovations.

Winners of the 2016 awards

This year the entries can be submitted in nine categories:

• Major Project of the Year of more than €500 million
• Project of the Year of between €50 million and €500 million
• Project of the Year of up to €50 million
• Technical Project Innovation of the Year
• Technical Product/Equipment Innovation of the Year
• Sustainability Initiative of the Year
• Safety Initiative of the Year
• Innovative Use of Underground Space
• Young Tunneller of the Year

Qualifying criteria for all awards categories can be found on the ITA website. The deadline for entries is 31 May, and the list of nominated entries will be announced by mid-July 2017. The ceremony for presentation of trophies to the winners will take place at the end of the AFTES conference in Paris on 13 to 16 November.
