The Tunnelling Association of Canada (TAC) is gearing up again to honour exceptional projects and people in its 2019 Achievement Awards.

TAC members are invited to nominate colleagues and projects of outstanding achievements and submit the entry forms by the closing date of 30 May 2019. Following ajudication, the Awards will be presented at the TAC Technical Workshop, Annual General Meeting and Gala Awards Dinner in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 21 October.

The five Award categories are:

Canadian Project of the Year Awards are presented to teams that have demonstrated the highest level of engineering skill and shown particular insight and understanding of underground construction.

The Innovation Initiative Award is to a person or team that has demonstrated skill in research and engineering of product design, product development, technological ideas, patent designs, mechanical engineering concepts, or geotechnical design.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual working as a contractor, consulting engineer, industry supplier or owner organisation who has demonstrated outstanding achievements in the tunnelling and underground construction industry.

In 2018, TAC Awards were presented to the 9.7km of twin running tunnels for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT Project in Toronto; the John Hart generating station replacement project for Innovation Initiative of the Year, and Canadian Garry Stevenson was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Photo of the Year Award can be nominated by all, not only TAC members.
