Markovec tunnel alignment in pink
- Alpine Bau GmbH of Salzburg, Austria won the bid to build the Markovec tunnel near the Adriatic Sea in Slovenia along with its Slovene partner Cestno Projetje Maribor (CPM).
- The 2.1km (1.3 mile) long roadway tunnel lies between Koper and Izola. Alpine Bau secured the contract for the NATM tunnel with a low bid of €64.5 million.
- Croatian construction company Konstruktor, and Slovene companies SCT and Primorje also bid on the project.
