BAUMA every three years is a barometer for the mood of the international construction equipment industry and while the roaring times of the mid-2000s are far from returning, optimism is in the air. Exhibitors are preparing for record visitor numbers at the fair and prospects for tunnelling in particular are more positive than for other sectors of the heavy construction. One company preparing to maximize opportunities in tunnelling is Caterpillar via its ownership of Canadian TBM manufacturer LOVAT. Suppliers to the world's tunnelling industry are busy and will be busier as major projects move into construction.
