Lobbying to keep Crossrail on track in London is becoming fierce. Had availability of the project been linked to a specific event, such as London's hosting of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, commitment to its construction and funding might have been easier. So many major infrastructure projects are linked to important national deadlines. These include Gautrain airport rail link for the Soccer World Cup in June this year in South Africa, the new Dehli Metro lines and Airport link for the Commonwealth Games in October, and the many tunnel projects in Sochi for the Winter Olympic Games in 2014.
