Plan of redevelopment works at Bond Street Station
- A JV of Costain and Laing O'Rourke is awarded the contract for the detailed design, construction and tunnelling work on the redevelopment of Bond Street tube station, in London. Transport for London (TfL) awarded the contract of £150 million (US$238 million) as part of its wider redevelopment of the station, which is budgeted to cost twice as much in total.
- Main construction is due to start on site next year and is scheduled to be completed by 2016. Work involves construction of a new entrance, ticket hall, escalators and access tunnels.
- Rival bids for the contract were submitted by Balfour Beatty; Taylor Woodrow & BAM Nuttall; and Morgan Est, although the firm withdrew from the shortlist at the end of last year. Concept design for the redevelopment project was carried out by Arup.
- Bond Street is the second of two major tube station redevelopment projects, with the Tottenham Court Road contract already awarded, that are planned by TfL in the heart of the capital. For both, the enlarged station is for congestion relief and also accommodate an interchange with the Crossrail project, which is to come into service over 2017-18.
- There are some works within Bond Street tube station that overlap with the Crossrail plans. TfL said the works will be built for, but funded by, Crossrail.
- Crossrail is planning for its works at Bond Street through a design contract (C132) with WSP. A demolition contract (C207) was awarded to McGee Group, and site facilities are to be provided by Select Plant Hire under contract (C223). A civils works contract (C240) was awarded to McNicholas Construction Services.
- The early works contract (C410) for access shafts and SCL work for Crossrail at Bond Street is at the bid stage and five JVs are competing. A contract package for the main Crossrail works at Bond Street is still under development.

- TfL's contract for the redevelopment work at Tottenham Court Road station was awarded at the end of 2009 to a JV of Taylor Woodrow Construction and BAM Nuttall. The budget for the entire project is £500 million (US$795 million). Work is to be completed by 2016.
- The same JV, Taylor Woodrow-BAM Nuttall, was awarded also the contract for the other major tube station redevelopment underway in London, at Victoria, which is an interchange with mainline rail and bus services. Redevelopment of Victoria is being undertaken in two stages and is budgeted at a total of about £700 million (US$1.1 billion), although £741 million was noted in TfL's Investment Plan for 2009-10 to 2017-18. The second stage of the scheme is to be completed in 2018. Early plans had envisaged the entire scheme being completed by 2017.
