TBM manufacturer NFM Technologies and logistical support specialist Mühlhäuser have penned an exclusive partnership agreement under which the two companies will offer clients a “complete tunnelling solution.”
Under the terms of the deal Mühlhäuser will supply a full logistical and TBM backup solution for NFM’s core European customers, as well as selected customers of the French TBM manufacturer around the world.
The two companies have already enjoyed several successful collaborations in developing logistical solutions to specific project requirements, including the Lyon–Turin high speed rail project for which Mühlhäuser designed and delivered a belt conveyor system for an 11.2m diameter NFM single shield TBM.
In the wake of this and previous successful collaborations, the two tunnelling specialists have formalised the arrangement with a long-term cooperation agreement, with a view to better serving customers.
“Based on Mühlhäuser's decades of experience with the design and realisation of TBM backup systems, and the track record of key members of the new Mühlhäuser management team in both TBM supply as well as selection, jobsite equipment installation, and the operation of TBMs, we feel very well prepared to serve the tunnelling industry with a full solution, from the TBM to the logistical challenges under ground,” said Mühlhäuser CEO Markus Rechner.
“In the recent past, many long standing customers have expressed their strong interest in new options and alternatives for the supply and service of TBMs. On the back of this we are convinced that a partnering approach between Mühlhäuser and NFM will lead to the delivery of many successful projects in the future,” said Mühlhäuser Chief Financial Officer Rainer Oestreicher.
Mühlhäuser is one of the world’s most recognised brands for rail-bound and trackless underground transportation solutions, conveyor belt systems, and logistical support vehicles, as well as equipment for concrete, grout and related applications.
The company’s conveyor belt system – comprising a charging unit, belt storage cassette, vulcanisation unit, drive unit, wash box and discharging unit – is entirely modular to provide maximum flexibility at low erection and maintenance cost.
