TBM history has many examples of main bearing failures and ruptures to their protective seal assemblies. Projects that suffer such problems attract retrospective criticism, especially from those less aware of the complex nature of TBM design, manufacture and operation. Finding solutions comes before arguing the case in getting the job done.
