Bay Tunnel groundbreaking - TunnelCast

September 24, 2010: Construction begins on the 5-mile (8km) long water supply tunnel under the San Francisco Bay. Michels/Jay Dee/Coluccio JV won the contract with a bid of $215.3 million, $55 million below the Engineer's Estimate. A Hitachi Zosen EPBM is on order and scheduled to arrive on site in May 2011.
