The passing of elder statesmen in the industry is a reminder to look to those joining the profession at the start of their careers and to hope, plan even, that the expertise of those who have excelled before them is not lost for the sake of applying resources to capture that knowledge. It is a much busier tunneling world today than it was just 15 years ago and ensuring the engineering skills and manpower base to meet the demand is something to be reckoned with.
