Promoting the use of underground space and tunnelling projects is one the foremost tasks of the ITA-AITES and its new President, particularly to nations yet to become familiar with the underground advantage. They are however expensive projects and if publicly funded, they are politically charged undertakings. Many have become the victims of the public funding scalpel. With the UK national election this week, how will London's mega public project Crossrail fare?
