From the Editor's Desk - 06 Apr 2017
Breakthrough this week of the 17.48m diameter Bertha TBM in Seattle is a great achievement for the industry. It is validation of the original concept that a bored tunnel alternative was possible at the diameter needed, and under the streets and through the glacial deposits of Seattle. It is also a well-earned reward to all involved for keeping the faith and maintaining the determination to get the machine through to the end of its assigned task.
